What Would Future You Tell You to Do?

We’ve all had those moments:
You look back at an old decision and think, “If I could go back, I’d do that differently.”

Maybe you would’ve taken that job.
Maybe you would’ve walked away from that relationship, or walked away sooner.
Maybe you would’ve finally said what needed to be said.

And you probably would’ve ended the conversation with your younger self by saying:
“Trust me—you’ll be glad you did.”

But what if you flipped the question?

Instead of asking, “What should I have done?”
Try asking, “What would my future self tell me to do right now?”

Would you say it’s time to stop making excuses and start exercising, because most of us could use it?
Would you say to start working now so the deadline doesn’t sneak up and take over your weekend?
Would you say to finally have the conversation you’ve been avoiding?
Would you say it’s okay to stop pretending you’re fine when you’re not?

You probably don’t need much time to figure it out.
Somewhere deep down, you already know.

You don’t need a time machine to feel the weight of that question.
You just need a little bit of clarity about who you’re becoming and where your current path is taking you.

Wisdom Has a Path

There’s a short verse tucked into the book of Proverbs that says this:

“Give careful thought to the paths for your feet… then all your ways will be sure.” (Proverbs 4:26)

Life has a way of pulling you in every direction.
But when you stop to look down the road, really look, you start to see something clearly:
The decisions you make today are shaping your tomorrow.

No One Plans to Wreck Their Life

No one plans to mess up their relationships.
No one plans to ruin their finances or drift away from faith.
But most people don’t plan not to, either.

And that’s the whole point of this question:

What would the future me want me to do now, before the regret, before the damage, before the missed moment?

It’s Not Too Late

You might not be able to go back and change the past.
But you can listen to your future and walk a better path moving forward.
